How long can tourists stay in the  UK ?

Your stay must be shorter than 6 months including tourism or visiting family and friends, Transit, business and short-term study.

How does it work for situation like long term study or work?

If you want to come to the UK for other reasons such as Work, Long term study, You should apply for a visa instead.

What’s the Validity of an ETA

Once granted it will be valid for multiple journeys over two years or till the passport you applied with expires.

Can I check in without a valid ETA

When you check in in your journey you might not be allowed to enter without a valid ETA as the Eta is digitally linked to your passport. You don’t need a share a paper copy. But it may be helpful to print the confirmation email for your own records.

Do I still need to go through passport control?

While an ETA grands you permission to travel to the UK  IT does not grant you entry so you will still need to go through passport control boarder to enter the UK  make sure you show the same passport you used to apply for your ETA. And that your passport is valid for whole of your stay.

How much it costs

An ETA will cost £10 per applicant.

How you’ll get your ETA

You will get an email confirmation if your application is approved.

You need to apply for either a:

Standard Visitor visa to visit the UK

Temporary Work – Creative Worker visa to come to the UK as a creative worker

transit visa to transit through the UK
