A typical program at Ewaffe Cultural Village runs from nine a.m. to six p.m.Visitors have a day of learning and laughter, as they immerse themselves in the culture of the people of Buganda. Visitors are greeted with traditional dances like Bakisimba and Nankasa and then go for an orientation session about the itinerary of the day.They then start with a farm tour, where they learn about the local plants, herbs and spices, how they are used, and their significance in the culture. Next there is fruit tasting, where visitors indulge in a variety of indigenous fruits.
After this, a variety of activities take place, like learning how to prepare traditional food like luwombo.Taking a class on preparing the local brew, making crafts.Being taught how bark cloth is made and going fishing. Or going hunting for sugarcane in the garden.
At lunchtime, visitors are served the local food that they helped prepare, in the way Baganda traditionally serves visitors. This is followed by a gender-based sex education session with Kojjas (uncles) and Sengas (aunties) , and then traditional sauna and massage sessions.
After all this, you can take part in traditional games like Omweso or more contemporary games like football.Board games like Ludo, or games that are usually considered ones for children, like skipping.
Ewaffe Cultural Village not only aims to showcase Buganda culture but also give back to the community and the environment. At the end of the day there is community tree planting and community socialization that happen alongside the goat roasting and tasting of the local brew.
